Wanted a tuning fork to help with verifying my A string was on tune. Haven't tried it yet. Was surprised at its small size. I wear hearing aids so this little fork must be really close to my ear to detect the tone. This fork is only 4 1/8 inches long. I was looking for something closer to 6 to 8 inches long. Wittner A-440 Tuning Fork Yes, I have an electronic tuner, but there is nothing there to compare with striking the fork to start it vibrating, and then pressing the bottom of the fork against the protruding skull bone behind my ear. That gives me such a strong and lasting "pitch impression" that I have plenty of time to tune the A string and go from there. Neat Little Tool! Turns out, it is a great little tool to have! Im hoping that it will eventually help me tune exclusively by ear. In the meantime, its helping me get there. Thanks!
