There is a small, firing crack near the handle that has been painted over and is probably original to the piece. In 1903, Georg Adam Winterling bought the Porcelain Factory Drechsel & Strobel in Marktleuthen and assigned the factory’s direction to his son Heinrich. Together with his brothers, Heinrich built up Winterling & Co including several subsidiaries. The porcelain factory in Kirchenlamitz was founded in 1920 as a branch of the Porcelain Factory Oscar Schaller & Co Successors, which the Winterling had acquired before. Conversion into a stock corporation in 1992 was followed by transfer of the company’s main office to Kirchenlamitz where Winterling AG with more than 2,500 employees produced until insolvency in 1999.
