Pieces are inside the box in a gallon sized ziploc baggie. Very beautiful and colorful puzzle when completed. This was a challenging puzzle but a very fun one! Puzzle pieces interlock tightly. The cardboard box is in pretty good condition. It is sturdy but has one split corner. There is a small portion of writing in black ballpoint pen in the upper right corner of the front of the box.
