All surfaces must be sanded. Do not apply directly over paint.Best when applied by putty knife. Tinting: Gel coat repair putty may be tinted using Pigments designed for use in resins and gel coats. Do not use more than 1 oz tint per quart. Mix MEKP 1-2% into putty prior to use. The weight of MEKP is 1/125 grams per CC. 30 Drops is approximately equal to one CC (Cubic Centimeter) NOTE: Using drops for catalyst is only an estimate. In Critical applications MEKP should be measure by using CC’s or Fluid Ounces which are volume measurements. The percentages in the chart: 1% thru 2% are percentages of gelcoat by weight. The CC’s and OZ’s values in the chart have been converted from weight of MEKP to volumes of MEKP. Gel Coat will begin to gel in approximately 10-17 minutes at 77 F. In warmer temperatures (90 F) reduce MEKP Catalyst (not less than 1.2%). In cooler temperatures (60 F) increase MEKP Catalyst up to 2%. Gelcoat may not thoroughly cure if applied in temperatures below 60 F. Note: This time element is dependent on material temperature, room temperature, humidity, air movement, amount of product and catalyst concentration.
