Description: Webb Theatre, Shelby, North CarolinaThe theater was located at 9 E. Marion Street, opened 1930 with 500 seats and closed in 1955. The theater building has since been demolished and a new building is on the site. This letterhead says Pete Webb, ManagerThis listing is for rare paper letterhead (8 identical sheets although each of different quality) from the era prior to the 1955 closing of the theater in Shelby. The Webb family owned 3 theaters in the area according to my research on the towns of Shelby, Gastonia and Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Articles I found indicate father James Edgar Webb (1870-1940) owned the theaters. Sons Hal Eugene "Pete" Webb (1912-2003), Fred Webb (1914-1969) and William Henry Webb (1902-1952) were involved in some way managing and assisting with the theaters. There is not a lot of information published about these theaters, however, Cinema Treasures does provide an overview. Note - the Webb Theater in downtown Gastonia is the only surviving theater building once owned by the Webbs. Today it is an upscale restaurant. You will receive 8 identical sheets of letterhead with this listing, although they each have different condition issues. They all measure 8.5" by 11". They have age and use, rub and scuff, soiling marks, some stain marks here and there, snips and clips small rips in places around edges, wrinkles. 3 of the 8 are in poor condition. The other 5 are better condition but none are perfect due to their age, handling and more. Please be sure you are ok with all before buying. I took photos and tried to show some of the wear, damage sections. They are being sold "as is" as was found. Buy with confidence as I offer 100% satisfaction guarantee.
