Being that this bass is from the earlier years of bolt-on construction being an available option for Thumb models (the Thumb Bolt-On was introduced in 1993/1994), this Thumb BO 6 has a smaller body compared to current Thumb models; and the body itself is made of walnut instead of bubinga or ovangkol like what we see on later Thumb basses. Due to the body being made of walnut, the natural tone of this Thumb BO 6 has a very defined, mid-forward growl. (Seriously, the mid frequency presence of this bass is clean and crystal clear.) The C-shaped neck and ultra-flat 47" fretboard radius are both sleek to the touch and elicit quite a fun, fluid, flawless feel that makes playing this Thumb quite a delightful experience whether you're the speediest or the most "meat-handed" of bassists. The original MEC humbuckers and preamp dated from '97 pack plenty of matured mojo and yield such a truly massive sound from this bass, yet the electronics still allow "the sound of wood" (as Warwick calls it) to shine through. And for the hardcore Warwick fans reading this post, you'll already know that the Thumb design in particular is the biggest proponent of Warwick's tonal philosophy revolving around "the sound of wood". CONDITION:Aside from the typical "wear-and-tear" that comes from playing a bass with a matte stain finish (particularly where the fingers make contact with the body wood), there is an extremely tiny, hairline crack in the body wood located between the 3D bridge and the tailpiece. I am guessing that either the bass took a fall at some point in the past while being played and landed facedown, or the bass took a hard drop due to mishandling while in shipping transit at some point in its 27-year life and landed facedown inside of the hardcase. Regardless of whatever the reason, the bass has been inspected by a professional luthier who confirmed that the crack (which perfectly follows along the grain) has stabilized and there is absolutely no risk of the crack getting larger due to the crack's location between the bridge and tailpiece.
