Description: Please note that this piece will be professionally packed, insured and shipped by fedex and extra shipping charges will be paid by the buyer for these services. The provenance of this piece is written in pen on the reverse wooden backing. It reads as follows: "Miyajima Inland Sea of Japan Given by the Mayor of Miyajima to the Captain of "Franconia" in 1930 and given by him to Eleanor Sherwood." The piece was obtained from Eleanor Sherwood's estate disposal circa 1975 and has been in my family since that time. I have documentation that the Franconia did indeed do the oriental run in its world tour of 1929 which included Miyajima. Similar documentation is available for 1930. The 1929 cruise description is in the volume pictured and will be included. The Franconia was a Cunard Line ship and is well known to aficionados of the golden era of steamship cruising. This antique panoramic photo by Wakaji Matsumoto depicts a scenic view of the Inland Sea in Japan circa 1930. The black and white image is an original, with the Photographer's embossed imprinted name.. The glossy finish adds to the overall appeal of the photograph. The photograph is framed and the framed measurements are 12.5 x 48". It is a vintage piece, produced in the Japan between 1925-1930. The image orientation is landscape and the subject is the beautiful scenery of Japan. This photograph is a must-have for collectors of antique photography and those who appreciate the beauty of scenic Japan.
