Description: Up for bid is an original vintage pre-owned Bells of Sarna Brass Bell with a Sagittarius Centaur with a Bow and Arrow Figure. This bell came out of an estate sale of a collector of bells over the last 50-60 years. Many were purchased on travels in the US and other countries. This metal bell measures about 4 3/4” tall by about 2” diameter at the base. Circa 1970s. It’s in great shape with no dents or damage. General wear with scratches. It marked inside the bell “Bells of Sarna India.” When it comes to vintage brass pieces, Sarna’s a good indicator of quality, especially in bells. Each of Sarna’s figurine bells has a different ring. An appropriate gift for a sports enthusiast, a conversational bell, a useful call bell and a rare collector’s item to grace your collection. Sarna Brass was started in 1920 out of Manhasset, NY, by Sajan Singh Sarna. Born in Rawalpindi, British India (now a part of Pakistan), Sarna came to the U.S. to study and found that Americans loved Indian handcrafts. In the early 1930s, despite the Depression, he began importing and selling handmade goods from India. After dreaming about a bell in 1938, he changed focus to importing brass bells from Indonesia. Each bell, which came with an attached story, grew in popularity, topping out in the 1960s when it was known as Bells of Sarna. When Sarna died in the 1970s, the company shifted to selling a broader selection of items and changed its name to S.S. Sarna, Inc.
