Description: This is my own vintage Talking Baby First Step Doll! What’s good about her: ~She comes with her original red dress + one extra red dress + original panties, (waist is stretched out, but they do stay up) + a striped ribbon headband + her red roller skates. I am also including one extra dress (It looks like it’s handmade maybe, but is so cute on her!) + one black satin ribbon headband & white undies. ~She is a really cute doll, and has a truly delightful look on her face, and she is clean and so are her clothes! (The tea set pieces are not included.) What is not-so-good about her right now: ~There is a small mark on her left cheek, and I tried cleaning it off, but just took off a bit of her rosy cheek! Sorry! ~As far as her mechanics, she has a 3-way switch for talking, off, or walking. She takes two DD batteries, and when we inserted the batteries you can hear her motor running, but she will not walk, nor talk. If you pick her up off of whatever surface she is standing on, she will move her legs back and forth while in the air, but won’t use that same motion to walk…??!! Now what is perplexing about her: ~I have included a picture of myself & my doll in front of our tree on the Christmas I received her. It is either Christmas of 1967 or 1968. I have two of her red dresses, and the tag you see in the photos says 1967 in one of the dresses. The other dress is not labeled, and the red panties are marked by that label that has a very, very frayed edge and says Hong Kong, where she was manufactured. In looking at the photo from Christmas, I had never realized that she originally came with red socks! Then I started to notice that the two dolls have totally different faces… different look… no rosy cheeks on the original! The only thing that I can think of, is that the doll in the red socks stopped working sometime after Christmas, and I am certain that my mom would have taken my doll to the “doll hospital”… which meant that she, or the store it came from, shipped the doll back to Santa for a replacement… and that’s why the change in the sock color, the extra red dress, and the totally new face!!! My mom passed away several years ago, so I cannot get any answers for either of us. Sorry! I am really hoping that someone out there has the talent to be able to fix her mechanics, so she can walk again, and use her darling red roller skates! And I hope that they know another talented person that knows how to get the dot off of her face, and bring back her rosy cheek once again! Please review all photos carefully as they are part of the description!!! Please ask any questions that you have BEFORE PURCHASING! FROM A SMOKE FREE, PET FREE HOME! Thanks for looking!
