The vase features green, maroon and gold painted surfaces that are elaborately decorated with raised gold motifs and colorful faceted glass beads. We acquired the piece in our travels to Northern India back in 2005 and have enjoyed displaying it in our home over the years. The rim, neck and base appear to have gold leaf applied. The faceted beads appear in green, yellow, red and white. Though there were many similarly shaped vases available, in many sizes, the decorations we selected on our example were not commonly found available because of the amount of handwork required to create one. We were told that the vase was older at the time we purchased it, so we assume it might be at least 25 years old or more. The vase has a red felt pad on the underside that is starting to peel off. No marks of any kind were noted there. Over the years, upon careful examination, we noticed about 6-7 of the faceted beads were missing in various locations around the vase. We have always been careful when dusting or cleaning, so this may have been the case when we purchased it originally. There is a very small nick under the rim that was there when we originally purchased it, but it wasn’t distracting. Please note that this is an art vase for decorative purposes only. It should not be used for fresh flowers as it may not be water tight. All in all, this is a handsomely decorated piece that will enhance any area in your home! Measurements: The vase stands approximately 12” in height. It measures approximately 5” in diameter across the widest portion of its body. The base measures approximately 3-3/8” across in diameter and the rim measures 3-1/2” in diameter. This vase weighs approximately 2 lbs, 10 ounces. All measurements are approximate, but close. Condition: We carefully examined this item. As mentioned earlier, the vase is missing 6-7 faceted beads in various locations. There is a small nick under the rim. The red felt pad is loose and needs to be re-glued. Other than that, NO Chips, Cracks, Scratches, Stains, Repairs or Restorations were noted. Please remember that marble is a natural material. Some variation in color, texture or appearance should be expected due to aging and handling. Please take the time to carefully examine all the photographs for more details.
