Description: This is a really old Egyptian sterling silver frame according to the markings, I believe the purity is 900 to 1000, per the research on the hallmarks. Also, it appears these were made in Cairo or at least the assayer was in Cairo. I know this to be from the 1950s or 60s because they were brought back from Egypt by my father-in-law who worked for Burroughs and was doing a lot of work for them in the Middle East during that time. He traveled to many many places and always brought back treasures for us. This frame (only) weighs 1.9 ounces of silver and has 1 hallmark on the outside of the frame and 2 on the back. They were do very hard to photograph - see photos for validation. Each of them also has the Cairo mark on the back on the tabs that hold the glass and the satin frame in place. This measures almost 6” x 4” - see photos. This need to be wiped with silver polish to remove the many years of patina. I haven’t polished them because I know some people like them to look aged, like this to have that patina… the original piece of glass, which has a greenish tinge, and the satin and velvet stand that holds it in an upright position. I know these are over 70 years old and beautifully made. Also, has an I engraved cartouche on top of the heart - you can monogram. I’ve taken pictures to show the size, the pattern, the design and the condition. Please contact me if you have any questions I will be very happy to help, thank you!
