Description: This vintage coin doll from Bali, Indonesia is a beautiful representation of Indonesian culture. Handmade with intricate details, this doll is a perfect addition to any collection of Asian collectibles. It is made up of 78 pieces of Chinese cash coins or qian of the Qing dynasty used from the 4th century BC until the 20th century AD tied together with cotton twine. It has hand-carved wood face, hands and feet and thin leather like ornaments that adorn the head, shoulders, waist, arms and legs, all painted in golden color. The Indonesian creation is termed a "prosperity doll" or "wedding doll", as it was a custom to give the doll as a marriage gift or more generally to wish prosperity and wealth to the recipient. Condition As expected wirh age and circulation, the coins have some patina, softening and corrosion. The right hand is missing a finger (see last pic).
