Description: this is a lovely vintage oil painting of the Portland, Maine Head Lighthouse actually located on the rocky shoreline of Elizabeth, Maine - the painting was done in the 1970's by listed artist James F. Murray (1899 - 1990) - the painting depicts a normal summer day with off-white surf crashing on the boulders by the shoreline - the off-white surf juxtaposes well against the beige-brown boulders upon which they are crashing - the viewer sees a relatively calm blue-green ocean water which flows incessantly towards the rocky shore - off the point where the lighthouse is located, the viewer sees a large group of boulders just off the shoreline - the lighthouse was painted in off-white colors by the gifted artist, & it looms above the lighthouse keeper's home as well as some small utility buildings, all of which were also painted in off-white colors - on this day, the cloud-filled sky was hazy - the painting measures 10" x 14" sight size, & is in very good vintage condition - the painting is well-enhanced by a newer gilded wooden frame which measures 12" x 16", & is in very good condition -
