Description: Here is a beautiful exhibition poster featuring "La Siesta" by Paul Gauguin. One critic wrote "never has a back been so prominent in a study of relaxed sensuality" in the history of painting. Gauguin was considered one of the greats of Post-Impressionism and was known for his experimental use of color and Synthetist stlyle that was distinct from Impressionism. This particular poster is from The Annenberg Collection and seems to be quite rare even though this painting was used in lots of other exhibitions as well. This exhibit took place at The National Gallery of Art in Wash D.C. and The Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 1990. I would say the frame is plum in color and the entire piece is a wonderful mix of blues and greens with a pop of more vibrant colors here and there. Overall I think it is quite a lovely piece from a long ago time capturing the special island of Tahiti. Thanks for looking.
