Description: Stunning large vintage brown lava cameo measures 1 3/8 inches wide and1 5/8 inches tall. It features marvelous high relief carving with exceptional detailing. The cameo, which has a 2 1/2" drop, is suspended from a 15" miligrain-link chain, accented with marcasite stones. The spring ring clasp is in good working condition. I find only one mark on this piece, a stamp on the clasp that looks like 93, and I suspect the chain to be an 800 silver or similar but the stamp just kind of "missed" it's landing. The metal of the cameo bezel I am unsure about, as I can find no marks on it. The necklace was purchased from an antique shop in Belfast in the 1980's, and I believe that it dates to the 1920's and is Italian in origin. Please feel free to send questions.
