Description: Vintage Gagliano guitar, made in Germany 1940-1950's. Solid spruce top; figured maple back and sides. Adjustable/removable neck; a simple turn of the hex nut in the heel raises or lowers the string action beautifully; it is a well working system which keeps the neck straight and strong under string pressure and maintains intonation very well. The guitar was refretted at some point with modern sized frets/low wear--the neck is straight and completely playable up and down the entire neck.There are 3 small filled holes in the top, where a pickguard was once installed. The bridge saddle element is beautiful, and appears much like the bridges I have seen on upscale Gagliano archtop guitars of this period. This bridge may be a replacement, but I'm thinking it may have been made to closely match the original. The original neck side position dots have been nicely filled, and small dot position markers have been installed on the side of the fretboard. The unusual headstock design is one I have not seen on another Gagliano.
