Description: A beautiful folding iron to accompany you and your Featherweight to your next quilting bee or class. A nice vintage 1940's folding travel iron that fits nicely inside a 221 or 222 Featherweight sewing machine case. This iron shows very little signs of use - just some light scuffing on the business side. Has various heat settings and an off position. Heats up quickly and retains heat for quite some time. I would suggest using the lower settings until you get used to the actual temperatures. That said this particular iron will require setting the control a bit past midpoint in order to heat up - The temp settings were not very accurate in the 1930's and 40's. I would also recommend that it not be used to iron delicate fabrics. Cord is in excellent condition. I recommend sewing up a pouch using a heat resistant interior. (See picture of an identical iron in a heat resistant pouch that I sewed up sitting comfortably alongside the Featherweight in the case.) This pouch will help protect both it and the Featherweight from scratching. Iron is made of heavy brass with a very shiny chrome finish. Most all other vintage irons will exhibit issues like deeper scratches, rust, bad cord, etc. This iron is in excellent condition, a real beauty!! You could search for quite some time and still not find one of these any nicer!
