Description: The is a Chicago Hardware Foundry (CHF) No 8 hammered finished cast iron skillet. The CHC factory was destroyed in 1938 during labor strikes and production ceased. That makes all pieces from this manufacture very limited and not so easy to locate after 85+ years. The pan is in full restored condition and ready to use. The cooking surface has pin size pits and hints of utensil scores. These are almost undetectable as you glide your fingers over a very smooth surface. The pan does not sit flat and spins on a polished granite surface. So, it is not recommended for use on a ceramic stovetop. This is not an issue for use on a gas range. No chips, cracks or repairs.Item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. Item is lightly seasoned with one round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hours. This item was photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, item may take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light. Photos are part of the item’s description. Please use them for a clearer understanding of items’ overall condition. If you have any questions, please let me know.
