Description: VINTAGE GRAND WOOD ARABIAN STALLION CARVED WOOD HORSE FIGURE SCULPTURE MODEL #253 THIS MODEL DEPICTS AN ARABIAN STALLION MODEL #253 THIS AMERICAN FOLK ART IS A MUCH EARLIER CARVING. GRAND WOOD HORSES WERE PRODUCED 1939-1983 FROM CHICAGO, ILL. USA.NOTE THE NICE HEAD AND FACIAL FEATURES. SHORT BACK AND NICE SCULPTED CHEST AREA. THE VERY FINE FEATURES WERE DEEPLY CARVED IN TO THIS PARTICULAR EARLIER MODEL. LOVELY FACE.HORSE MEASURES APPROX 8.5" IN. HIGH X 9" IN. LONG. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS BEAUTIFUL HORSE HAS BEEN DAMAGED IN THE PAST. DAMAGED WITH TWO LEG BREAKS ON RIGHT SIDE, AND, HAS BEEN REPAIRED BY MYSELF. THE BREAK DAMAGES ARE DIAGONAL CLEAN BREAKS ON CANNON BONE AREA OF EACH OF THE TWO RIGHT LEGS THAT ARE EXTENDED OUTWARD. ONE BREAK PER EACH LEG ONLY. AS AN EQUINE ARTIST I HAVE PAINSTAKINGLY REPAIRED EACH LEG TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY AND MATERIALS ON HAND, PLUS, MY LONG TIME EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH WOOD HAS GIVEN THIS LOVELY SCULPTURED HORSE BACK IT'S LIFE TO A CERTAIN DEGREE WITH A CHANCE FOR ADOPTION. AS WITH ANY OLDER PIECES CARVED FROM WOOD THIS HORSE HAS SCATTERED VARIOUS AND ALL OVER RUBS, MARKS, DINGS, DENTS, SCRAPES,WOOD SCARS AND SCUFFS THAT ARE FROM AGE, USE WEAR THAT ARE CONSISTENT WITH TIME AND HANDLING. THESE MODELS ARE DIFFICULT TO FIND IN ANY CONDITION AND IT IS NOTED THAT THESE CARVINGS ARE HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER PRIZED PIECES, AND, BEAUTIFUL GEMS HOUSED IN MANY COLLECTORS HOME MUSEUMS.
