Description: This appears to be somewhere between a Box A first edition and a Box B edition. Let me explain. First, this has the two piece gold body box with red and black text/graphics. My research indicates this box was only used for the Box A first edition. BUT….there is no mention of Llewelyn. The sides of the box read “Distributed by Samuel Weiser, 734 Broadway, N.Y. 10003” and “Printed in U.S.A.” I can’t find this box ANYWHERE. I’m reading that the Box B edition has box flaps. This obviously does not, it’s a slipcover. However the “Ace of Pentacles” card is the corrected version, NOT the upside down error. But……the other error has NOT been corrected. The Ace of Cups has no number in the upper margin. A handful of these cards do not have numbers in that margin, not sure if the others are normal. No booklet, but this is as issued. This edition is not supposed to have a booklet. Nothing is missing. As for the other differences between the two editions, I can’t be certain. I believe the contrast on the text at the bottom of each card is a bit difficult to read (like the first edition) but I’ll let you be the judge. Also there is a slight difference in the pale blue margins. Some are very slightly lighter than others. Lastly, there is no margin around the design on the backs of the cards. As for condition, this example is excellent. Crisp corners and edges. A couple of very light smudges, but overall very little sign of anything but very limited use. I’ve shown every single card in the photos so you can see for yourself. TRIPLE COUNTED and verified to include 78 cards plus the “Caliph” information card.
