Description: VINTAGE ** 1981 "PEANUTS GANG" SNOOPY ***~ SNOOPY & THE CANDY CANE ~*~* 2 & 1/4" CERAMIC CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT *~~ Use as an Ornament or Figurine ~United Feature Syndicate ~ Made in Japan_______________________________ SIZE: This piece measures: 2 & 1/4" in height; 1 & 1/2" in width (width measured at base/bottom and includes area of candy cane at top) DESCRIPTION: This auction features a vintage Snoopy Christmas ornament from 1981. Snoopy is all ready for Christmas and is leaning up against a candy cane. One side of this reads, "NOEL" and the other side reads "1981." He is in the standing position and is as happy as can be. There is a tiny metal piece at about throat level and a small golden-style metallic thread is attached for use as an ornament. He has a piece of green paper on the very bottom of his feet. This reads as follows: "SNOOPY, c. 1958, 1966/ UNITED FEATURE SYNDICATE INC./ MADE IN JAPAN." Judging by the lightweight material, it is probably made out of ceramic. Since he does stand on his own, I do feel that he could be used as either an ornament or as a figurine, too. Please do view the pictures and video as an extension of the overall description. I do feel that this Snoopy ornament rates in FAIR condition with age and use considered. This is especially considering the fact that it's now 43 years old -- and ceramic! There appears to be normal age and storage wear seen. Most of this shows up as small surface scratches here and there. I did note a few tiny sliver chips on the base of one side edge. I've tried to point this out in the pictures, as well. This is hard to see unless you're really looking for it, but I did want to note it for accuracy. I did note some tiny areas of paint loss to both sides of Snoopy's ears, too. I think a matching color of black paint would likely take care of this pretty easily, but it can be seen nonetheless. Please do keep this in mind. As it is ceramic, I am guessing this is probably a very common issue with these old pieces -- which, of course, makes them more and more rare every year. It could use a gentle cleaning, but I will leaving that to the new owner's discretion. There is some residue on the bottom paper piece (including what looks like old holiday glitter). Since it's paper, I am going to leave that alone. I would ask that the pictures and video are viewed as an extension to the overall description of this piece. With age and use considered, I would still say this piece rates in Fair condition overall.
