Description: ***********The hacking automatic movement runs about 2 minutes fast by the end of its approximate 41 hour power reserve period. Given this and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.***********This vintage 1971 Zodiac Sea Wolf, which came from a local estate, has a "SWISS T < 25 MC" signed dial that has aged uniquely to a tropical brown hue. The original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. As clearly seen in the pictures the lume shows crazing which in person is visually imperceptible. The bezel rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension and the baby blue acrylic insert presents as nearly blemish free. The all stainless steel case shows minor wear with no signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "ZODIAC SEAWOLF WATER-TESTED 20 ATM ESPECIALLY." Between the lugs at 6 o'clock are the stamped numbers "2206464." The crystal shows light scratching. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale I don't feel comfortable removing the case back on this watch. The case back on Sea Wolf's are notoriously difficult to remove and should be done by a skilled watchmaker familiar with how to do so in order to avoid causing damage. The hacking automatic movement with semi-quickset date function runs strong, albeit fast, and the date wheel rolls over at 12 am. The semi-quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then repeatedly moving the hour hand between the 21 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. The hacking feature works by pulling out the crown which stops the seconds hand. When the crown is pushed back in the seconds hand resumes moving. After recently winding the original signed, non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement gained about 2 minutes by the end of its approximate 41 hour power reserve period. While the time can be smoothly set the crown winds with a bit of tension. Given that the movement runs fast and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 35 mm excluding the crown, approximately 38.5 mm including the crown and approximately 17.75 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. The lug to lug distance is approximately 43 mm. This watch comes on its original "1-71" stamped JB Champion stainless steel bracelet that shows stretch (which is normal for this type of bracelet). Set on the loosest clasp setting it's too big on my approximate 6.5 inch wrist. I'd 'guesstimate' that it may comfortably accommodate up to a 7 inch wrist. The buckle/clasp snaps tightly shut. A complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided. Thanks for looking! ***********The hacking automatic movement runs about 2 minutes fast by the end of its approximate 41 hour power reserve period.
