The US Coinage act of 1792 called it officially as disme; changing to dime in 1837. The Obverse-side Text Inscriptions: LIBERTY IN GOD WE TRUST JS (year) The Obverse-side Images: Franklin Delano Roosevelt, born January 30, 1882 & died April 12, 1945, age 63. He was the 32nd President of the United States of America (POTUS) from 1933 to 1945. That is 12 years! The Reverse-side Text Inscriptions: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA E PLURIBUS UNUM ONE DIME The Reverse-side Images: An olive tree branch with two olives, a flaming torch, and oak branch with an acorn nut symbolizing peace, liberty, strength, & independence with the motto phrase across it. The obverse & reverse designs were by John Ray Sinnock, born July 8, 1888 and died May 14, 1947. His initials are on the front of the coin and they are not Josef Stalin's as urban legends, conspiracy theorists, and false rumors had suggested in the past. Liberty is defined as the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behavior, or political views. E PLURIBUS UNUM roughly translates from Latin to: Out of many, one - which was the common motto from the USA seal from the late 1700's until 1956 when the motto officially became In God We Trust.
