The 31 1/8" blade is mostly bright with scattered minor pitting and dark staining, with the largest concentration being toward the tip. The etched decoration of the blade is faint but visible, with the U.S. near the center being quite prominent. Guard has a nice mellow patina and some gilding. The fishskin grip shows only small losses and the triple strand wire binding is slightly loose yet complete. The scabbard is better than normally seen; the leather showing expected age but is intact and stiff with the complete fittings retaining much gilding. The drag has typical dings. There is no maker name or date on the sword. A very respectable example for your collection.
