Description: Mildred Hunt (1916-2016) was a devout Mormon. She self-published two books of poetry, Book of Mormon and Other Poems (accompanied by the illustrations of Susan Hunt), and Poems. The first of these is offered here, WHICH IS INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY MILDRED HUNT (see listing photo). The book is self-published with no dates seen - the back cover has a printer attribution of Print King of Sacramento, CA. It is in VERY GOOD CONDITION, with the only issue light wear along the cover edges and color loss along the edges. In addition to the signature, there is an additional inscription by a friend to whom Mildred inscribed the book - see listing photo. There are 55 additional solidly bound pages with no further marks. Here is a brief passage from an obituary of Mildred Hunt: "...Mildred was, in her own words, "forced by her deep love to marry at age 19" the most eligible bachelor in their small Mormon town, Austin George Hunt who was 27. This was the beginning of 71 happy years of an exemplary marriage. Mildred joyfully lived according to her sure faith in Jesus Christ, adored his "wonderful gospel" and being a member of his church. Austin and Mildred became pioneers in their church community after moving to Sacramento in 1945. Mildred was renowned as a poet and librettist. Her subjects included the here and now of domestic life, impressions of the many places she and Austin traveled, and imaginative visions of ancient scriptural accounts. She attributed her longevity to being born into the Word of Wisdom (a revelation on health given in 1833), but friends and family remember that Mildred's biggest secret for living peacefully and happily was her philosophy of refusing to be offended."
