ULTRA RARE| Pokemon Hasbro Tomy 🪲 Scyther 🪲 Johto Combat Figure w/ Custom Case

Description: For sale is a vintage Scyther Johto League Champions Combat Figure made by Hasbro. Condition: This figure is in good condition. There are a few minor paint scuffs. The figure is still working and does it’s slashing action when it’s legs are pressed together. Also included is a custom commissioned case featuring artwork from Scyther’s original packaging. Background: This figure is extremely rare; Many of the figures that Scyther was meant to be released with are only known through media photos from the 2002 toy fair because they never went into production. Although this wave of Johto League Champions combat figures was never fully realized, a few figures did get released to the public including this Scyther. The JLC combat figures as a whole were released in waves. The timing and grouping of these waved releases I am not sure of but I’ve broken down some info I know about the series below: - Steelix and Umbreon = confirmed never released prototypes figures - Scyther, Houndour = uber short production run figures - Elekid, Tyrogue, Pikachu Crouching, Cyndaquil = rare production figures. - Spinarak, Chikorita, Totodile, Pikachu Standing, Zapdos, Hitmontop, Heracross = mass produced figures. This Scyther figure mold was re-released later with a different paint job as a “shiny” combat figure in the Master Quest series. The Tyrogue, Cyndaquil, Pikachu, Heracross, Zapdos, Chikorita, Blastoise, Charizard and Spinarak combat figures were all re-released as Shinies. The shiny Master Quest release was more widespread than the original release for Scyther, albeit still in very limited quantities.
