Description: This is a pair of Marcel Dufour carved Mallard Decoys made in 1982 and 1983. The Carver, Marcel Dufour, is a very highly regarded maker of decoys from the Quebec area. The Decoys are a Drake and a Hen but they are not actually a pair as one was made in 1882 and the other in 1983. Both have Dufour's signature and are dated underneath. While each is in generally good condition, neither is perfect. The Hen's beak shows some puppy toothing. Both have some dents and scratches. Photos give a good description. They are life size, each measuring about 13.5 inches from beak to tail. The Drake weighs 1 pound, 15 ounces. The Hen weighs 2 pounds, 5 pounces. Marcel Dufour carved some very nice decoys, many did well in competitions at the highest levels. He also carved working decoys which he used in his own hunting rigs. Our guess is that these two may have been candidates for his hunting rig or for sale as neither has the extensive detail found in some of his decoys. Still, they have his signature and may add a nice touch to someone's collection. We did not find many of his decoys available for online purchase. We will sell them as a pair at a discount but are willing to sell either separately for $125.00. We can ship them within the U.S. quite economically and accept returns for any reason within 30 days. (Note: We do have an article from Decoy Magazine from 2003 about Marcel Dufour which we will include with the Decoys.)
