Traditional Zen Meditation Bench, Handmade Pine Prayer Bench Zazen Seiza Burmese

Description: This is a custom, handmade bench for meditation. It is made out of natural light pine wood. There are no nails or screws. It is made with the traditional technique of using wooden pegs to create the joints. The top seat measures 20 1/2 inches across. Like all meditation benches of this style, it slants towards the front, which allows the body to keep an upright position with more ease. The back edge of the leg is 7 inches from the floor to the bottom of the seat. The front edge of the leg is 6 inches from the floor to the bottom of the seat. The diagonal pieces under the bench are actually the cuts that create the slant. I wanted to make use of them in the design rather than scrapping them and I thought they create nice detail. This bench is lightweight and very stable. This is not a folding model, this is the kind of bench you keep in a meditation space and leave it sitting there for daily use. It is reasonably well sanded and unfinished in natural pine. There are some minor cosmetic imperfections. You can finish it further or simply use it as it is. Please see photographs. Some of the minor cosmetic imperfections are a small hairline crack in the top front edge, some minor swirl marks from sanding. You can use this bench for Zen sitting practice or for any type of meditation. Once you start to experiment with the leg positions you will find that there are quite a number of very comfortable positions you can create with a bench like this.
