Endpapers (identical front and rear) carry a 2-p spread map of the trail west from Kansas, clean, slightly tanned. Inside from flyleaf carries a prior owner's colorful bookplate. Full-color frontis "Fording the South Platte River" printed landscape orientation but bound on edge, as are the numerous additional illustrations (all clean, see photo examples) . Text pages clean, no markings or damaged pages noted; paper is very lightly tanned particularly at margins. 6.25" x 8.5" 388 p. Helpful introduction (see photo) by Howard Driggs, President of the Oregon Trail Memorial Association and Professor of English, New York University. The original illustrations by William H. Jackson were commissioned by the Oregon Trail Memorial Association.
