The Oregon Bigfoot Highway -- Not signed - a bargain - limited #

Description: Summer SPECIAL List price on this book is $19.99. Check Amazon and ABE for prices. Popularity? As of the end of 2023, over 3K copies of this book has sold with no returns to Amazon, major resellers, or to the author; all this with virtually no regular book promotion. The author {me} has had numerous requests to write a second volume, but one thing is missing, a clear photograph. Maybe by next fall something out of the ordinary will happen. Anyway: Sale books may have minor production blemishes such as a corner bump, but absolutely no writing, marks, or broken spines. Many are signed by the author, please check your copy. This book is about 31 Bigfoot sightings going back to 1924, 43 Bigfoot track finds going back to 1911, and 69 Bigfoot related incidents such as rock throwing in the wild area of the upper Clackamas and Breitenbush River drainages of NW Oregon. 118 b&w photos {color on website}, 13 custom made maps, 9 detailed appendixes. Appendix II lists 188 characteristics taken from 100 reference reports, 352 pages. Characteristics are not interpreted for the reader; that is for the individual to decide. Also, this book is not intended to convince readers Sasquatch exist; they do but they are rare. The book makes several unique contributions to the literature: a cleaned wild parsnip rood was found and propagated; clubs used to harvest spawning salmon found and photographed, along with associated action at the site; rocks licked for nutrients and restacked, plus much more. Accounts in the book are based on individual interviews by the authors' and a loosely knit group of adventurer / researchers labeled the Clackamas Sasquatchians; plus very select book and newspaper reports. No internet based reports were used for reference reports. There are GPS coordinates throughout, so the reader can follow action on Google Earth or a similar site. We believe this is a first in the literature. NEW: If you are familiar with the book, check the 2019 "Riverside Fire Map" for areas burnt. The Fish Creek drainage and more is gone. We feel "Our Barefoot Friends" know the ways to get away from the fires. FORMATTING: the formatting of this book is in the style of The National Geographic and other academic journals; i.e. there are page wide introductions and conclusions while the articles are two column. Once you get used to it, this style makes for quick and easy reading. Thank you. The book is much more than a grouping of Bigfoot reports. It is designed as a travel log with mileage markers in each of the six areas laid out in the book. Hopefully readers will grow to appreciate the beauty and majesty of the Clackamas Ranger District of the Mt. Hood National Forest. We are so confident of our work that your satisfaction is guaranteed or your money back. ___________________________________________________________. Pre-publication review of the Oregon Bigfoot Highway By Gene Baade January 19, 2015 If you want to take an armchair trip through some of the most beautiful and wild areas in the Pacific Northwest, read Joe Beelart and Cliff Olson’s book, The Oregon Bigfoot Highway (OBH). If you want to encounter cougars and other four-footed creatures along the way, read this book. If you want to meet interesting and eccentric people along the way, read this book. If, also, your interests run to the even rarer and more exotic two-footed creatures that inhabit this “highway”, then you’re all set to ride when you read this book. These Forest Giants are, after all, the main reason you will read it. When it comes to the best Bigfoot books, there is something about each of them that elevates them above dozens that are not the “best.” The stories and accounts in each may have a familiar ring, although each one often has something unique in its details that, alone, make it worth the price. However, it is usually not the stories and narratives, by themselves, which make a “best” Bigfoot book. It is the particular knowledge, expertise, and authority that the writer has that sets it apart and enables it to join the select company of “best” books. Along with this, there must also be a compelling and unique “voice” with which the author speaks to us. OBH presents an intimate tour along the Clackamas River district of Oregon, southeast of Portland. This tour is taken by vehicle, but most of the action happens when walking or sitting around the campfire and rolling up in a sleeping bag at night. Beelart, Olson, and their fellow “Sasquatchians” have gone there repeatedly to experience the wild beauty of the river and its forests, but in so doing have also experienced something rare: contact, usually indirect and under the cloak of night, with Bigfoot. A clue: Bigfoot likes to watch people sleep. How do you know they are there if you are sleeping? Sometimes you wake up and you stare at each other. Again, most books on this subject include stories of contact and interaction with Bigfoot. This alone, however, doesn’t make for a “best” book. What the authors have brought to this reviewer’s shelf of “best” books is their detailed knowledge of this river and its mountains and back country. They know geology. They know forestry. They know the seasonal cycles of forest, land, climate, animals, and fish. They know the history of the river as it pertains to electric power generation, fishing, logging, and a bit of tourism. They know a little bit about the USFS, and vice versa. They know each specific location almost like they know their own back yards. They share all this with the reader with a cautious and possibly misplaced trust that the knowledge they share will not be abused. The authors, for this book, developed a detailed and unusual reference system that is indexed. Sightings, track finds, and “events” are all sequentially numbered. Each person who wished to remain anonymous has been given a generic name (Jake) and a specific number. The rivers (Clackamas, Breitenbush, et. al.) between the towns of Clackamas and Detroit are divided up into areas and districts, and incidents within those locales are further divided up sequentially referencing sightings, track finds, etc. Exact global position coordinates of most locations are given. Some are withheld for stated reasons. Mileage locations to and from the towns of Clackamas and Detroit are given. Initially daunting for the general reader, all this referencing serves the purpose of, well, reference. It is a great tool for return and reread. It is a great aid for visiting the locations in person, or with GPS type software on one’s electronic device. The reader gets used to it. Bigfoot research benefits from systematicians like these who also love the campfire and the trail. If, on the other hand, you’re not drawn to systematics and exactitude, then be sure to read Area 52 in the book. Author Beelart’s “voice” is one to listen to. He has developed a language, a style, and a turn of phrase that is unique – humorous at times, didactic when necessary, and full of love for mountain zephyrs and the stars of the zodiac circling the after-midnight Cascades. No other wordsmith could come up with observations like these: “By selling their cloaking techniques to the military, our Bigfoot Friends could become billionaires and buy their own gated forests.” Or, this: My friend was driving up the Clackamas with his girlfriend to stoke the embers of affection.” This book will be on my “best” Bigfoot books bookshelf. If it isn’t on yours, the only reason I can think of is that it is lying open beside you in your car as you explore the Oregon Bigfoot Highway in person. The OBH includes maps, indices, photos, biographies of Sasquatchians, and informative appendices such as migration routes & “offerings.” Gene Baade is a long-time Sasquatch researcher; thinker, retired theologian, and friend of this book who lives in Renton, Washington. ___________________________________________________________. To be clear; the book is illustrated with black and white photographs. The old website with a complete set plus of high res. color photos was discontinued by the "sponsor." Sorry for now. Thank you for looking. Joe The May increase in USPS shipping is reflected in the book rate price. For non-USA customers: Normal off-shore shipping is through eBay service or Amazon.
