The Holocaust Yad Vashem Martyrs & Heroes Remembrance Authority Vtg 1st Ed PB Book 1975 75+ pages of archival and historical photos and sketches from the Concentration camps and Nazi Germany 1939-1945, combined with a written, informative, and concise history of those terrible years. I acquired this book in 1983 at Yad Vashem, but from research I believe it was first published in 1977. It's powerful and moving, especially the colored sketches and poems, on foldout pages, that were created by the children in the camps. There are also heartbreaking photos of the inhabitants of the camps and ghettos. The book shows the progression of this dark period, from Hitler's appointment to Reich Chancellor in January 1933, through the many steps taken to remove the rights of Jewish citizens, to ultimately the camps and the Final Solution. The poem on the inside back cover is relevant to today. 10 1/2" x 8 1/4" x 1/4". REVIEW 10 out of 10!!! This memorial photographic book of poems artwork, and never before seen photographs of death camp conditions and aftermath of World war II is a must have for all who wish to never forget what happened in Europe during the great war. This book includes a time line of Jewish persecution in Germany and Europe from 1933-1945, which notates the rise of Nazi Germany and the Jewish response to persecution.
