Growing Dragon Tears Japanese Maple Trees The Dragon Tears Japanese Maple forms an upright tree, growing vigorously and reaching 5 feet tall within a few years. It will easily grow to 10 feet, and in time, it will probably pass 15 feet in height. at first, It will be just 6 or 8 feet across, with one or two central trunks, and almost horizontal branches, with weeping stems falling from them. This unique structure is found in almost no other Japanese maple, and it makes this tree very, very special. Its graceful lines develop naturally, with no need for artificial staking, and for the first time it becomes possible to have a gorgeous weeping Japanese maple grown easily to a substantial height – and what a gorgeous tree this is.
