Coming out of the late 1970s New York Punk scene the album differs from conventional punk, with its textured guitar-based arrangements, it is cited as being crucial to the development of Post Punk and New Wave genres. ‘Marquee Moon’ ranked highly in many “best of” music lists; the album was listed 128th on the Rolling Stones list “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” and contains the singles ‘Marquee Moon’ and ‘Prove It’, both of which charted within the Top 40 Singles on the UK Chart in 1977.
