Description: From my personal collection, Taylor Hobson Cooke Series II Portrait 15” 380mm f4.5 Knuckler Anastigmat lens. As you may know, this lens is a special portrait lens made in the mid 1920’s. Some historical aspects of the Cooke Portrait lenses are as below. Chronology of the transition of Cooke Portrait soft focus lenses with knucklers.Series II portrait f4.5 knuckler from 1923 to 1926 <- This sampleSeries IIB portrait f4.5 knuckler from 1926 to 1930Series IIE portriat f4.5 knuckler from 1930 to 1956 The series II is the third to the last generation IIE and the first generation with the knuckler of the Cooke Portrait series with the patent Cooke triplet design, so no separation could exist. The lens covers 8x10, 10x12 and even 11x14 at close distance. The internal lens elements are cleaned. The soft focus mechanism is CLA’d and moves silky smooth with whoosh! No scratch or hairline to my eye, very few if any. Some wears and patina on the barrel as shown in the picture. Aperture blades are complete and move in and out without any problem. Overall, this is a very beautiful sample. One minor note is that the line on the barrel is a bit offset to the aperture scale lines but it is not a practical problem. The lens includes the original front and rear lens caps (worn as shown in the picture), and the original flange. This sample is complete except the original box…. The lens weighs more than 5kg.You need a sturdy front standard of the camera and a tripod.
