Description: Offered for sale is a Coot Duck Decoy by Lester "Butch" Parker (1952-2015) of Holtwood & Lancaster Pennsylvania. Holtwood is along the Susquehanna River 30 miles north of Havre de Grace, MD. The coot is well done and correctly exhibits the red frontal shield that is missing on many coot carvings (photo 2). Parker carved a curved mandible separation on the bill and painted the red eyes (photos 4 & 8). The decoy is solid wood and heavy and in all original paint. There may be a couple of very small spots of touch-up to the black paint on the back and side (photos 10 & 15). Some scattered small scrapes and rubs are present along with some very small dents. The carving is life-size and measures 13 inches long and 6.5 inches tall. The underside is hot branded "PARKER" and has a lead weight attached to the rear of the decoy. The copper rigging ring is still present. The coot displays nice and is free of cracks or repairs. The coot will be bubble wrapped and mailed in a larger box with plenty of extra cardboard and paper packing material. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. The wood stand is not included in the auction listing. Thanks so much for looking!
