Description: ULTRA RARE!! ORIGINAL!! Billings & Spencer Co.1892 Single Blade Sliding Knife. Marked; The Billings & Spencer Co. Hartford, Conn Billings Patent March 15, 1892 Tip is flat. Blade is grey with dark areas. Scratches. Blade appears it was slightly reshaped. Tight opening and closed. Slider is missing the top knob; however, it still functions. Used. Measures at 5.25 inches closed. See all photos for details as they are part of the description. Original patent is for a hollow handled, sliding blade pocket knife. Billings & Spencer Co. through well known for their tools made a few knives between 1890-1914. This patent was applied to a screwdriver manufactured by Billings & Spencer Co. Hartford, CT marked with Billings' patents of March 15, 1892. Later in 1930 under contract, Billings produced alloy-steel wrenches for the Sears Roebuck “Craftsman” brand.
