SS United States Silverplate Caviar Server by International Silver Complete

Description: Exceptionally rare First Class caviar server from "the world's fastest and most modern superliner," the SS United States (in transatlantic service 1952-1969, and currently stripped and moored at Pier 82 in Philadelphia). Manufactured by International Silver of Meriden, Connecticut exclusively for the United States Lines, this silver-plate piece is in the requisite scallop-edged Manhattan pattern and remains in excellent condition, showing minor signs of in-service duty and virtually unnoticeable spots of vague silver discoloration as is expected with age--all while maintaining a uniquely elegant appearance and displaying as if virtually pristine. It is marked with the requisite "US Lines 52" branding denoting it was aboard the ship's record-shattering maiden voyage on July 3, 1952, and bears original acid-etched United States Lines spread eagle logos on both sides (which proves its genuineness). Rest assured, this is the Real McCoy. Many pieces offered on eBay have been desecrated with an engraved eagle logo cut into the silver-plate with tangible, hard edges. The smoothness of these emblems asserts the piece's authenticity. What makes this server even more desirable and rare is the presence of all five glass inserts including the caviar bowl and the rectangular dishes for chopped egg whites, yolks, onions, and, of course, crème fraîche. These glass pieces are in perfect condition with no chips or cracks. All that's missing is a mother-of-pearl spoon for the caviar!
