Description: Highly sought after and extremely hard-to-find silver dining room caddy made by International Silver and dated coded 1952 for the maiden voyage of the Big U. Not often seen with its original crystal inserts. Intriguingly, it is stamped “PD” on the base. Pursers’ dining room? Private Dining (meaning the restaurant on Prom Deck)? The original silver inventory states that the shakers held salt, pepper, and paprika, perhaps for hard-boiled eggs. Measures about 5.5” tall. These come to us direct from the auction in 1984.
