THE CLASSIC SIX CARD REPEAT Greater Magic Library volume 12 -- published by Twin Cities Magic undated, but circa 2009 (footage from the late 1980's or early 1990's, from the original Steven's Greater Magic Video Library) This DVD teaches FOUR very strong ways to present the classic 6-Card Repeat, taught by MARTIN LEWIS, BILLY MCCOMB, MICHAEL FINNEY and ALDO COLOMBINI. The effect, in case you don't know it: magician counts six cards, throws away three, and still has six. He repeats this four or five times. (hence th ename, 6-card repeat)(Interesting to see that all four of these very creative and successful pro's all use the popular patter context of "trying to learn a trick that they saw a magician do" which motivates showing the trick four or five times. This "script" for performing 6-card repeat probably will never be improved upon. However, in watching the four performances by these very different personalities, the DVD provides you with a great "bonus lesson" on how different magicians adapt presentations to their own unique personality!)Martin Lewis uses a great (gimmicked) method for the effect which I had never seen before and has some big advantages over the usual gimmicked method. I started using Lewis' clever method immediately after seeing it on this DVD. Billy McComb teaches the classic ungimmicked method. He also gives some interesting history of the effect and anecdotes from his own performance experience.Aldo Colombini teaches you how to get into this effect in an impromptu situation, by perfomring one lead-in effect.Michael Finney gives you a great idea for giving the trick a final climax, and also some important advice and information about how the trick allows you to engage with (and also gauge) your audience. If you don't do 6-Card repeat, then you should get this DVD. It will teach you one of stand-up magic's most practical and effective routines. If you already do 6-Card repeat, you should still get this DVD, for insights on presenting it effectively and maybe also for Lewis' great alternate gimmick method, Finney's clever finish, or Colombini's "impromptu" version. Also learning the classic ungimmicked handling from McComb will give you a great alternative method. Retail on this DVD $35. But you can get it here for a lot less!CONDITION: New and unopened.
