The CFRP carbon fiber bodies are durable and inherently stiff, allowing the R9100 version to be sculpted for lighter weight with the added bonus of 3° extra cornering clearance versus Ultegra/105. Dura-Ace pedals use a serviceable three bearing system with cartridge bearings inboard/outboard and a wide roller bearing in the middle for ultra stiffness. Instead of the replaceable stainless wear plates that could loosen and make noise with previous generations of Dura-Ace pedals, Shimano engineers bonded three strategically placed polished stainless plates into the carbon body that won't wear out or make noise. As with all Shimano pedals, the rear retention spring is adjustable, allowing you to customize release tension with a 2.5mm hex key. Pedals come with Shimano SPD-SL SH-12 2 degree float blue "Dura-Ace" cleats and mounting hardware. (Fixed and 6 degree float cleats are options available separately).
