Description: These two Limoges porcelain plates are in very good condition. There is a very small nick on the rim of the plate that bears the H & Co. backstamp (see photo), but otherwise there are no chips, cracks, scratches, or crazing, and I could find no utensil marks on either of these plates (see photos). These two plates bear two different backstamps as shown in the photos, and while they are nearly identical, a close examination of the undersides of these plates shows that they are slightly different. However, otherwise they appear identical. One of them bears a backstamp indicating it was made by H & Co.; the "L" under the line on which H & Co. appears was used prior to the company beginning to use the "Haviland" backstamp that appears on the second plate, that is, the backstamp "Haviland France." Each of these plates is eight inches in diameter, and they probably could be used either as salad plates or luncheon plates. The porcelain is translucent; one can almost read the backstamps through the porcelain when the plates are held up to the light. The total weight of these two plates is 1 1/8 pounds, and the shipping weight will be two pounds.
