Description: 1958 Torpedo 18b with case, dust cover, manual, and paperwork for sale. Typeface is the unique Pica Imperial (10 CPI). Machine was fully refurbished this past spring. Work done included: 1. New platen rubber. 2. New case feet/typewriter feet. 3. New drawstring/return carriage line. 4. New insulation. 5. Case cleaned and adjusted. 6. Typewriter disassembled, cleaned, adjusted, re-set to factory specifications by trained typewriter specialists. PLEASE NOTE: typewriter has one slight issue. The carriage return lever (see photos) is a bit loose. While it still works to advance to the next line currently, it will stay to the right if not physically moved back to the left. It may be a simple fix, but I do not have the expertise/tools necessary to tighten the lever itself. Due to this issue, I am discounting this machine by a decent amount more than I paid for it. This Torpedo is a gorgeous blue (I want to call it a robin's egg blue, but I'll leave that up to your interpretation) and gray two tone in color. It has plenty of chrome accents, including chrome rubber feet caps. The "Made in Western Germany" graphics are in great shape on the rear of the machine and easily readable. There are a couple of scratches on the typewriter and case, but are difficult to see/find (see photos for more details). All features of the typewriter are working as they should as of the writing of this post. The case works as it should, but requires careful usage when installing the Torpedo, removing the Torpedo, and latching the case. The only issue I’m currently aware of is the loose carriage return lever, as previously mentioned. If you're looking at this post, you most likely have an idea of the snappy typing action on a Torpedo. If you have never experienced it, it is quite unlike any other typewriter. It is incredibly quick and responsive. It will always be one of my favorite type feels of any machine I've had the pleasure of using. This particular machine, in addition to having a recent refurbishment, will come with it's case, dust cover, manual, and all of the paperwork received from the company that did the refurbishment work. Additionally, I’m including an unopened reproduction “Torpedo” poster I purchased (intended on framing it, but don’t have the wall space). If you're looking for a visually stunning machine that has had its refurbishment work taken care of already and writes in a unique typeface, then this Torpedo 18b may be the machine for you. PLEASE NOTE: I am not a typewriter expert, nor do I claim to be. I’ve listed any issues I am aware of/experienced myself at the time of the post in the interest of being upfront and honest, but there could be other issues that I am unaware of. Typewriter is sold as-is, with no warranties or returns. Machine will be well-packed (see my seller feedback if you’re interested in how I pack) and shipped quickly via UPS. If you have any questions that may arise, or would like any other pictures, please ask and I’ll be happy to help. Thanks for looking, and have a great day!
