This BB-1NG dates back to around 1977 when Lew Childre pulled the manufacturing license from Shimano and gave it to Ryobi. I know this reel was made about that time due to the slide switch on the right side of the case (see Picture 5). This switch was used to disengage the anti-reverse. This was removed from production in the late 70's. Also, we know the age due to the early parts used for Cast Control (see the last three pics before the box).This is a rare vintage Lew's children speed spool baitcast reel, model BB-1NG, made in Japan in 1977. It features a right-hand retrieve and a star drag design. The reel is made of die-cast aluminum alloy and has a line capacity of 12 lb/155 yds. The gear ratio is 4.3:1 with a retrieve at 4.7:1 and it has three ball bearings. This reel is perfect for fishing enthusiasts who are looking for a unique and rare piece of equipment.
