Description: Maker: This gorgeous cabinet or dinner plate is by the iconic English china maker Spode. Design: The beautifully scalloped and gold-trimmed plate features a central display of finely detailed fruits and panels of tiny pink and yellow roses. It's trimmed in gold. Marks and age: The green Spode's Copeland China mark on the reverse was in use from around 1891 to early in the 20th century. The impressed "O88" mark on this plate dates the porcelain's production to October 1888. The pattern number Y947 is on the back. It is very similar to Spode pattern R8895. Size: The plate is 10 5/8 inches wide and weighs 1 pound 11 ounces. Condition: It's in overall excellent condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, stains, discoloration, repairs, crazing or wear. There are several white spots in the band - examples are shown in the photo with the red arrow and others can be seen by enlarging the photos. Several remnants of green protective pads are still attached to the rim - they are shown in the photos and would probably come off with a good soaking, but that is not guaranteed. Please check all the photos very carefully – they are an important part of the description.
