Description: Here is a special piece of antique white ironstone, a saw-edged, crenelated-edged, or sawtooth edged cake stand measuring 11 inches wide by 5 1/2 inches tall. The base is smooth and graceful. The distinctive feature is the zigzag design along the edge - very showy and crisp This feature is known as a sawtooth edge.It is in fabulous condition - shows some crazing with no chips or cracks and possessing the lovely white tone with bluish undertones of antique ironstone. Cake pedestals are rare, especially in excellent condition. I will double box it for safe shipping. The underside bears the circular back stamp of the Harker Pottery, a firm that operated in E Liverpool, Ohio. This firm was founded in 1840. I would date this piece to the second half of the nineteenth century..It was a pleasure to find this unique cake stand and to offer in this listing.
