Description: This listing is for a Rare ~25” Neoclassical Candelabra C 1890 Grand Tour Roman Bronze attr Barbedienne Foundry. This Beautiful Grand Tour candelabra is attributed to the French foundry Barbedienne. I have not been able to find a mark on it- but it near perfectly matches those made by the foundry in great detail & quality. The finest workshop produced these grand Roman style bronze candelabras with a bronze figural maiden / goddess/ Putti figure as the center finials- and perhaps to act as a snuffer ? A center column rises from a three-legged tri corner griffin / lion themed base and floral scrollwork. This neoclassical influence continues up the roman / greek classic column, which leads up to the central candle holder & its 3 candelabra arms- capable of holding 4 candles at one time. It is extremely opulent, and quite heavy, as many items of the time were. These souvenirs were not cheap like today’s- but instead were meant to showcase the utmost luxury in your vacation. The design is excellent for many rooms and a large variety of decor styles. It makes this an excellent staple piece for your collection, one your friends definitely won’t have! A great collectors item, for use display gifting or decor. It is in good condition, with no major damage. It has a gorgeous natural patina, which I have left undisturbed, this gives it a subtle patterning of color.
