It must have been a gala event with numerous movie stars in attendance including the prominent Texas Senator Tom Connally who signed this program just below Roosevelt's portrait and name. Thomas Terry Connally was an American politician, who represented Texas in both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives, as a member of the Democratic Party. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1917 to 1929, and in the U.S. Senate from 1929 to 1953. We can find no other example of this early 20th century political program available on line or in public/private institutional libraries - there are no copies on OCLC WORLD CAT. And while this is a copy with wear it is nonetheless quite presentable with strong colors and numerous nominee photo plates throughout. The list of movie stars in the center is a veritable who's who of 1930s A-listers like Humphrey Bogart, Henry Fonda, Harpo and Groucho Marx, Fred McMurray, Barbara Stanwyck, Loretta Young and so many more like George Gershwin, Arthur Hammerstein and Jack Benny. What an event it must have been! Successful bidders please note: INSURANCE on all items over $100 strongly recommended.
