This plant can tolerate some serious drought once established, which makes it ideal for areas with limited rain or access to irrigation. In early Spring, Primrose Jasmine becomes laden with classically fragrant jasmine blooms, it is, however, an exception to the general trend toward white blooms in this family, Primrose Jasmine's flowers are vibrant yellow. Allowed to expand freely this jasmine may grow up to ten feet tall, but can reach double that figure in width. Its sprawling growth habit lends itself to massive growth as new limbs reaching from the center of the plant will continually root. Primrose Jasmine should be pruned annually to contain its growth in smaller landscapes. Ideally, limbs should be trimmed during Winter, once the shrub has ceased blooming. Trimming the limbs frequently will also encourage prolific blooming in this species as blooms typically only appear on new growth.
