Pfaltzgraff began producing this Yorktowne Pattern in 1967 to honor the Town of York, Pennsylvania. One of Pfaltzgraff's most popular patterns, it was inspired by the salt glazed crocks of the 19th century. This large pitcher is from one of the earlier productions of Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne as evidenced by its backstamp with a large castle with the letter "P" inside the word PFALTZGRAFF, followed by USA ©. This mark was used before 1977. It has since been retired.
