Description: This is an authentic WW2 Japanese Katana Sword with a signed Tang by Asano Kanezane. The sword's hilt is intricately designed. The blade is sharp and has a unique shape, perfect for any collector or enthusiast. The sword's origin is from Japan, and the maker, Asano Kanezane, is a renowned name in the world of Japanese weaponry. This sword is from my late father's collection, he was a WWII vet and collected for over 50 years, I am not an expert but have done some research into Japanese swords. I have included information from my father's notes. This is an absolutely beautiful sword made by famed Swordsmith ** "Asano Kanezane", with his personal seal hot stamped at the bottom of the tang. This was one of my father's favorite swords. This sword was originally in Military Kyu Gunto mounts, but the mounts were replaced with Samurai type mounts. A few years ago, the sword was sent to Japan to be polished and took about 6 months to get it back. The sword is absolutely stunning (See VIDEO & Photos) and in FULL POLISH. There is a very tiny nick near the tip of the of the blade on the Shinogi-ji (upper flat side of the blade) (See Photo #12) but does not take away from the beauty of this blade. The blade is razor sharp. The Hamon (Temper Line) is beautiful. The cutting-edge length is: 25 1/2 inches Look at Video & photos and judge for yourself!! Sold as is!! You won't find many WW2 swords as nice as this in this condition. This is priced for a quick sale or make a reasonable offer!!!! I do not ship overseas, USA only!!! **Asano Kanesane, also spelled Kanezane, is one of the better documented swordsmiths of the Showa (WWII) era. He was born Asano Shinichi on December 19th, 1910, in the city of Seki in Mino (Noshu) province and was apprenticed to master swordsmith Kojima Kanemichi in 1923. In April of 1930, he became an independent swordsmith and adopted the art name of Kanesane. He established a school of Sword making in Seki and began teaching the art in 1933 when he accepted his first students, Kanetada and Michisane. He worked his entire life in Seki. He won numerous awards for Sword making including the silver medal in the 1934 Fine Art Exhibition, the gold medal at the same exhibition in 1935 and gold medals in each successive exhibition from 1936 to 1941 (Fuller and Gregory).
